Japan’s captain Wataru Endo has been reported recently that he could leave Liverpool in the summer after starting in only one match under Arne Slot since the start of the season.
His first start for the Reds came in the 5-1 Carabao Cup round of 16 against West Ham, in which the midfielder played 82 minutes before getting replaced by Tyler Morton.
For the moment, the player is not in Arne Slot’s plans to play as a regular starter compared with the last season under Jurgen Klopp when Endo was one of the main midfield player ever since his arrival at the club.
Recently, Wataru Endo has responded to the rumors of him leaving Liverpool for a new club where he can have more playing time, the player said that his club needs the squad depth due to the busy schedule and he it’s early to judge after the new manager came.
He continued by saying that he has no idea what the media has reported on a possible transfer but the plan is that the Japanese midfielder will continue to his career at the Merseyside club for now.
The midfielder feels that he has a lot of chances to show his qualities on the pitch due to the long season, in which Arne Slot will have to make a lot of team rotations in different games.
There are a lot of players who haven’t featured in most of the matches until now, but all of them are aware that the situation could change every week so the best thing is to keep pushing until they reach their goals.
On the other hand, Wataru Endo is shining in Japan’s squad during the international break, starting in the last 2-0 win against Saudi Arabia for Asia’s World Championship qualifications.
The captain has kept his great form alive, being the key player for his country in the first three matches of the World Cup qualifiers, in which Japan won three games out of three. Placed first with nine points, Japan is first in the table, with five more points that the second place.
The next challenge for Wataru Endo and Japan will be the home game against Australia which will be played on Tuesday before the midfielder travels to Merseyside to join the Liverpool squad before the Chelsea match on 20 October.
