Liverpool’s vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold still has not signed the new contract with his team and his future plans are yet to be revealed after the Spanish giants Real Madrid have contacted the player recently as reported by the media.
The 25-year-old is having a fantastic start in the new season under Arne Slot who arrived in the team in the first of June. Liverpool has reached the top of the table after a tough 2-1 win at Molineux Stadium against Wolves, after five wins in six matches.
On the other hand, the Reds are having a perfect Champions League run, winning the first two matches against two Italian sides. In the first game, Liverpool played AC Milan away and won 3-1 and the second win came on Wednesday against Bologna in the 2-0 triumph at Anfield.
In all of the Liverpool wins the English right-back has been the key player on the team, starting in 10 out of 11 matches. The Carabao Cup’s round of 16 was the only game in which Arne Slot decided to rest the player and left him on the bench for the whole 90 minutes.
The contract running out of time has made Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti show interest in the signing of the player, and this would be a major move for the Los Blancos due to Dani Carvajal’s age and his contract expiring in the summer of 2025.
Fabrizio Romano, the famous Portuguese reporter has said that Real Madrid is still not negotiating or discussing with the player but they are not losing their interest since March. He continued saying that Trent Alexander-Arnold still prefers to stay at his boyhood club as he mentioned earlier that he wants to win trophies and is very happy under Arne Slot.
The good news that Romano gave to the Reds fans is that Trent’s chances to stay at Liverpool are much higher than his leaving. The club’s board and the player will have negotiations about the idea of the project they have for now and for the future, there will be other discussions about increasing Alexander-Arnold’s earnings says the reporter.
Trent’s debut with the Reds happened on 25 October 2016 at only 18 years old. Growing up, Liverpool’s vice-captain started to become the main player under Jurgen Klopp’s team and since then he has shown his great qualities, becoming a European Champion with his club in 2019 and winning the Premier League in the 2020/2021 season, in which the Reds broke club’s record with 99 points in a season.
Alexander-Arnold’s future is yet to be revealed as Arne Slot prepares his squad for the weekend’s clash against Crystal Palace in Selhurst Park Stadium.
