After the 2-1 Premier League win against Wolves to go to the top of the league, the Reds are preparing for their next Champions League match the 13th position Seria A team Bologna.
Arne Slot’s team will try to receive another victory against an Italian team, having played AC Milan in the first match in which Liverpool won 3-1 from the goals of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Dominik Szoboslzai.
Since the start of the season, Vincenzo Italiano’s boys have won only one match in the league, drew four, and lost one. Compared to the last season in which Bologna was placed fifth and qualified for the Champions League, this season has not started in the best way possible for Italiano’s team.
In the European competition, Bologna’s first UCL match was against Shakhtar Donetsk at home but they failed to receive three points and drew to the Ukrainian side with a result of 0-0. The next match against Liverpool will be one of the hardest challenges since the start of the season and it will be a big achievement for Bologna to receive at least one point in Anfield.
Arne Slot will have to make some changes to the team and we can see some other players who did not have the chance to start yet feature from the first minute. The Reds boss has confirmed that Liverpool’s summer signing Federico Chiesa won’t be part of the squad due to an injury in the recent win. Speaking to the media, the Dutch boss said that the injury is nothing serious but he hopes that the player returns after the next international break is over.
This is how Liverpool’s predicted lineup looks before the clash against Bologna:
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker who returned from a small injury last match against Wolves will be on the goal once again leaving Caoimhin Kelleher on the bench.
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas as full-backs, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in the center-back partnership.
Midfielders: The regular starters like Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are expected to play deeper into the midfield, with Curtis Jones in front of them, leaving Dominik Szoboszlai on the bench.
Forwards: Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will play on the wing and in the striker position we expect to see Darwin Nunez who has just returned to the training after a small injury in the recent days.
