Liverpool went to the top of the table this weekend after winning against Wolves 2-1. They sit in first place with 15 points after winning 5 matches and losing only one in Anfield against Nottingham Forest with a result of 1-0.
The Reds season has started perfectly under the newly appointed manager Arne Slot, but even the Dutch manager admitted that his team is yet to play the top-table teams and that’s when the real challenge will begin.
Manchester City comes second after Liverpool with 14 points due to the last match in which the Citizens couldn’t get three points against Newcastle United and the match ended in a draw. A main factor in Man City’s race for the title will be the injury of Rodri, who is reported to miss the whole season after a surgery on his ACL.
In third place comes Mikel Arteta’s team with 14 points level with Manchester City. These two teams faced each other two game weeks ago in Etihad and the match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes of thriller. Based on the match we can see both teams fighting for the Premier League title matches before the league is finished.
Enzo Maresca’s team is placed fourth after an incredible 4-2 win against Brighton in which Cole Palmer scored 4 goals in the first half, becoming the first player in the league to achieve this record.
Other teams like Aston Villa and Fulham started the season really well and could be title contenders but their chances are slim based on Sky Sports reports.
Based on the Opta predictor, Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League are way lower compared to their rival Manchester City who are favorites to take the first place with a 73.38% chance.
Arsenal comes second with 17.16% chances, and that’s 4.27 times less than Pep Guardiola’s team. Liverpool comes third with less than a 10% chance of achieving great success. Arne Slot’s team has received a 9.06% and this means that Manchester City have 8 times more possibilities to get first place compared to their rivals.
Chelsea, who last year finished 6th and reached the spot for the Conference League, have started their new season really well under Enzo Maresca, winning four matches, drawing and losing only one. These results have put Chelsea in the title contenders debate and their chances to win the Premier League as per Opta are 0.28% which shows that they are no way near the other three teams.
Fifth comes Aston Villa with a low percentage of 0.06%, but Unai Emery’s goal is set to be the top four so his team can get a spot in the Champions League.
