Liverpool’s last summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai, has opened up about his second year in the club and the new changes with the arrival of Arne Slot. Since his first start under the Dutch manager in the Premier League match against Ipswich, the Hungarian has been a main player in The Reds’s midfield, starting in eight matches out of nine.
Szoboslzai scored only one goal and that came in the first Champions League match against AC Milan, in which the player found the net for the first time in the 24/25 season, after Cody Gakpo’s brilliant assist to make it 3-1 and received three points in San Siro. Different from the European competition, the midfielder has not yet found the goal in the Premier League.
Until now, Liverpool has won eight out of nine matches. In the last Premier League match, the Reds received three points against Wolves to go top of the league with 15 points. This team’s success came from the amazing performances of the midfield trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister & Dominik Szoboszlai.
Arne Slot’s tactics are a key factor in the impressive performances of the midfield, after starting together in almost every match and missing only the Carabao Cup’s 5-1 win against West Ham. The connection between the trio has made the team even more comfortable in ball possession with Gravenberch who plays as a defensive midfielder, helped by Mac Allister as a base midfielder, and Szoboslzai who has more work offensively compared to the other two.
Speaking about his teammates and his time under Arne Slot, Dominik Szoboszlai said that he loves to play alongside two quality midfielders, but he feels that the whole team needs to be focused due to the busy fixture that awaits for them.
Hungary’s captain thinks that Liverpool has started the season perfectly if we leave out the 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest in Anfield. Being first on the league and winning two out of two Champions League matches is a huge step for Arne Slot, but even the Reds’s boss said that it’s still early to speak about success without playing the top teams.
After reaching the top of the league, Arne Slot’s boys get ready for tomorrow’s match against Crystal Palace in Selhurst Park Stadium. A triumph away from home would be a huge boost to Liverpool’s title chances due to the challenge against Manchester City and Arsenal, who are placed second and third with one point less than the Reds.
Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to start against The Eagles before leaving to Hungary for the match National League game against the Netherlands which will be played on the 11th of November.
