Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes, will be available for the next Premier League clash against Aston Villa after receiving a red card in the last match against Tottenham in which the Red Devils lost 3-0 at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese midfielder got a red card for tripping over James Maddison and was sent off from the match in the 42nd minute when the score was 1-0 in Tottenham’s favor after an early goal in the third minute by Brennan Johnson. The assist came from Micky van de Ven who dribbled from his own half to his opponent’s box to set up Johnson for the early lead.
Later in the first half things went even worse for Man United when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a tackle on Madison in which the midfielder tripped. After the match, Fernandes was set to miss three Premier League fixtures which would be a huge miss for the team.
After the match, Manchester United’s board appealed to the FA to review the referee’s decision and save the player from the three-match ban. Days before the appeal, the FA confirmed their decision on the situation and this means that the player won’t have to miss any of the matches for his team.
Eric Ten Hag’s team is not having the best start of the season, being placed in the 13th spot in the Premier League table after only two wins, two draws and two loses both in Old Trafford with a result of 3-0 by Tottenham in the last weekend and Liverpool who right now are at the top of the table.
The next challenge for the Red Devils is against FC Porto in the Europa League in which they are placed 20th after failing to win against Twente in Old Trafford in a game that ended 1-1. Ten Hag’s boys will try to get a victory in Estádio do Dragão which will be crucial to their success in the European competition campaign.
The best news for the team is that Bruno Fernandes is back and his unavailability for the team would be a huge loss that could have played a major role in the club’s form.
