Liverpool‘s forward Mohamed Salah could be returning to Liverpool training camp before the international break is over after the 2-0 win against Mauritania in which the player scored the second goal in the 79th minute to seal the win for his country.
The player left the pitch in the extra time, minutes before the game ended, and was replaced by the 23-year-old forward Ibrahim Adel. After receiving three points, Egypt stays at the top of the table with a comfortable lead of nine points, six more than the second place in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
Hossam Hassan boys are having a perfect run in Group C after winning three out of three matches, while scoring nine goals and conceding none.
The first win came against Cape Verde in which Egypt won 3-0 from the goals of Rami Rabia, Omar Marmoush, and Ibrahim Adel. Just four days later after the first triumph in the campaign, Egypt won 4-0 against Botswana where Mohamed Salah scored the third goal in the 56th minute but got replaced 19 minutes after with Koka.
The next challenge for Egypt will be against Mauritania on Tuesday but it’s expected that Liverpool’s forward won’t feature for his country due to different reasons.
It has been reported that Mo Salah could miss the match and return to Liverpool’s training center early due to the stadium where the match will be played. The match will be played at Stade Cheikha Ould Boidiya in which the pitch is made by artificial turf.
Speaking to the media, Egypt’s manager has said that Mo Salah asked him if he could not play due to injury concerns before Liverpool’s busy schedule after the international break. Hossam Hassan explained that the Mauritanian team always plays hard with a lot of aggression and violent interventions, and knowing Salah’s worth for the Merseyside club, he thinks that is better to not feature in a game like this.
If the player won’t be available for the his country’s next match, it would mean that he is expected to make an early return to Liverpool and get ready for the next Premier League match against Chelsea in 20 October.
Liverpool’s captain Virgil van Dijk is another player who could be arriving at the Reds’s training center early due to the second yellow card he received yesterday against Hungary in the 79th minute after fouling an Hungarian player.
These returns could be a major boost for Arne Slot’s team because the awaiting fixtures won’t be that easy as the first matches since the start of the new 24/25 season.
