Arsenal received a massive win in the last minutes of the match against Leicester City which ended 4-2. Mikel Arteta’s team opened the score in the 20th minute after a goal from Gabriel Martinelli who later assisted Leandro Trossard to double the lead minutes before the half-time break.
The Gunners started the second half poorly, receiving a goal in the 47th minute from James Justin, who later scored the ‘goal of the season’ until now with a brilliant volley inside the box from a difficult position.
After the goal, Arteta’s boys played a more offensive game to try and score the third goal, but Leicester’s defending denied them until the 94th minute when Bukayo Saka’s cross from the corner went into the net from an own goal by Wilfred Ndidi.
When everyone thought the game was over, Kai Havertz scored another one past Mads Hermansen’s goal to make it four and demolish the Foxes’s dreams of receiving at least one point in Emirates. With this victory, the Gunners are still placed second in the league tied up with Manchester City.
On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s team couldn’t get the result they wanted against Newcastle United in St. James Park. The Citizens started the game well, taking the lead with Josko Gvardiol’s goal, but this wasn’t enough to receive the full points against The Magpies.
As the game continued in the second half, Man City’s goalkeeper Ederson made a mistake by tripping over Anthony Gordon in the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Gordon didn’t miss and Newcastle equalized the game in the 58th minute, and from that point Man City couldn’t take the lead even though they attacked most of the times in opponent’s half.
The results of this match is a big opportunity for Arne Slot’s team to go top of the lead, having 12 points in their six Premier League games. Until now, Liverpool won five matches and lost only one against Nottingham Forest with a result of 1-0, and this was the only time they conceded since the start of the season in the league.
Liverpool now gets ready for their challenge against Wolves after the incredible 5-1 win against West Ham in the Carabao Cup’s Round of 16. The starting lineup today for the Reds will be completely different as the one in the EFL Cup, where Arne Slot started a lot of players who spent the most of the matches in the bench.
