Federico Chiesa’s arrival at the Reds is one of the most surprising transfers of this summer window. Liverpool waited until the last days of the transfer window to make the signing of the 26-year-old Italian happen.
He is expected to be the replacement of Mohamed Salah as he confirmed that this will be his last season with the club before he joins the Saudi League or other European clubs as reports are saying.
The last match against Nottingham Forest showed that Liverpool’s attack can be not so useful during the whole game. No chances were created and wrong decision-making by the forwards resulted in no goals by the scouse’s side.
Mohamed Salah is having a good season with 3 goals and 3 assists since the beginning of the new Premier League season but he is not how he used to be two seasons before. The touch and the speed are not like they used to be, so this gives a big concern to Arne Slot’s team if they want to compete for every single trophy this season.
In the other wing, Luis Diaz was kept on lock the whole game by his Colombian teammate Daniel Munoz. His dribbles didn’t succeed and his performance was very poor compared to the last one before the international break against Manchester United which Liverpool won 3-0 with two wonderful goals from Luis Diaz and one from Mo Salah.
With Chiesa in the squad, Arne Slot will have it easier to rotate the team and make changes during the game. Federico has shown his true potential with the Italy squad and with Juventus and he is the perfect fit for a team like Liverpool.
He was in the stands during the last match against Nottingham Forest but is expected to be on the bench for the UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan on Tuesday.
A long way until the end of the season as the Red’s new manager has still time to show if he is the perfect replacement for the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
