Arne Slot prepares for the last challenge against Crystal Palace before his players head to their countries to prepare for the international break. Placed first in the league, Liverpool’s triumph in Selhurst Park would be huge for the title race.
Liverpool’s last game was against Bologna in the Champions League in which the English side won 2-0 from the goals of Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah. With this goal, the Egyptian forward becomes the top African goal-scorer in the history of the Champions League with 45 goals in the competition, one more than Chelsea’s legendary striker Didier Drogba.
Until now, the Reds have been defeated in only one match out of nine against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League in which Liverpool lost 1-0 in Anfield. Arne Slot hopes that his team continues this perfect form against The Eagles and three points away from home would be important for the Dutch manager.
Federico Chiesa is expected to be on the sidelines again, after not being available against Bologna due to some minor problems he had during the training. Arne Slot confirmed that the player hasn’t trained for the last two days so first the team will wait for his progress until a decision is made.
Harvey Elliott who has been out since last month due to a fractured foot won’t be a part of the team for today’s match, but the good news is that his return date is expected to be right after the international break.
This is the confirmed Liverpool’s lineup against Crystal Palace:
Alisson Becker starts in goal, the defense has changed up a bit with the replacement of Andrew Robertson by Kostas Tsimikas who has started in only two matches in the new season, but Arne Slot trusts him for the left-back position against Crystal Palace. In the center, we have Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, with Trent Alexander-Arnold as a right back.
Ryan Gravenberch will play alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones in the midfield, leaving Dominik Szoboszlai on the bench.
Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Mohamed Salah will create the attacking trio. Darwin Nunez, who started in the Champions League against Bologna, will have his chance to come off the bench against Palace after Slot decided to go with Diogo Jota.
Liverpool lineup vs Crystal Palace: Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo.
