Liverpool’s Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, has been voted by the fans as Liverpool’s Player of the Month after his massive performances in each game since the first match of the season which The Reds won 2-0 against Ipswich.
Arne Slot has given all the trust to the 22-year-old, who has started in 10 games for Liverpool and missed only once due to the manager’s decision to rest him in the cup game against West Ham.
Last season, the player didn’t start the majority of the matches under the former German manager Jurgen Klopp, who preferred Wataru Endo more as the defensive midfielder, due to Gravenberch’s poor performances whenever he got the chance to play as a starter or coming on from the bench.
With the arrival of Slot, Ryan Gravenberch has been the key player in the team, controlling the midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Until now, the player has received two ‘Man of the match’ awards, after two exceptional performances in the Premier League and the Champions League.
The first award came in the first Champions League clash against AC Milan. The player had the most impact on the field, stopping many attacks from the opponents, making a lot of passes to the attacking players, and dominating the midfield the whole game.
Liverpool won 3-1 from the goals of the two center-backs Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, while the third goal was scored by Dominik Szoboszlai.
His second ‘Player of the Match’ performance happened in the 3-0 win at Anfield against Bournemouth and the player was brilliant once again, making every Liverpool fan fall in love with his style of play.
Ryan Gravenberch has also impressed the Dutch national team, mostly in the Nations League round two, where the Netherlands faced Germany. The first goal was scored by Tiijani Reijneders who received a brilliant assist from Gravenberch to open up the score.
Speaking about his major improvement to the media, Liverpool’s defensive midfielder has said that he is still the same player as the season before only that his confidence has grown up when Arne Slot trusted him to start since the first match.
He feels that the understanding of his way of play from Arne Slot makes him a lot more comfortable and has made things easier for him.
The player also shows his desire to win every trophy that the club competes for but he thinks that is still too early to speak about it and the team has to focus first to achieve the success.
As Ryan Gravenberch received the ‘Player of the Month’ award, the Reds prepare for Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace, which is a major event that will decide if Liverpool will remain at the top of the league before the international break starts next week.
