Liverpool’s number-one goalkeeper Alisson Becker, is doubtful if he will start in goal in the next Premier League against Bournemouth. In the pre-match press conference, the newly appointed manager Arne Slot, revealed that Alisson could be missing in the weekend due to a tight hamstring.
Until now, the Brazilian goalkeeper had a fantastic season start, conceding only twice in five games. His form hasn’t dropped since the last season and he is still showing the qualities he has that make him one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
In the last Premier League match, Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest with a result of 0-1 in Anfield, due to the poor performance from the team. Alisson received the goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi who made a brilliant dribble to score from the outside the box and this was the only goal conceded by the Reds keeper in the league.
The second goal conceded came from Christian Pulisic in the third minute of the match against AC Milan in San Siro. The Reds were down 1-0 in the 3rd minute but 20 minutes later, Ibrahima Konate delivered the ball into the goal with a header after an amazing assist from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Only 18 minutes went by and Virgil van Dijk scored another header from the corner to make it 2-1 from Kostas Tsimikas’s assist. To put an end to Rossoneri, Dominik Szoboszlai converted Cody Gakpo’s brilliant assist to a goal.
Now the Reds are ready for their next challenge in Anfield against Bournemouth, but their main keeper has a major doubt about whether he will start from the first minute. Arne Slot has revealed that the injury didn’t come from the Milan match, but it happened before and it started to hurt more and more.
If Alisson is unavailable for the match, Caoimhin Kelleher will be ready to take his place and secure Liverpool’s goal. Last season, the Irish goalkeeper had an amazing run with the team, playing the majority of the time when Alisson got injured.
The Dutchman should not be worried about placing Kelleher on goal after he has shown his potential in every match that he has started until now, and this is what is making Caoimhin’s situation at the team more complicated.
The Irish first-choice keeper is planning to leave the club so he could be the number one in the next club he will sign for. He even spoke to the media saying that he needs more playing time and he knows that it will be nearly impossible to change that as long as Alisson is fit. Another major reason on leaving the club is the signing of one of the best Euros goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Kelleher knows that the club won’t count on him as a number one in the future and with the arrival of the Georgian goalkeeper, his time at the club is coming to an end.
