Manchester City could only get one point from the derby against Arsenal in Etihad which ended 2-2. Bernardo Silva had some words about the ‘mentality’ of Arsenal after the match explaining that whenever they play Man City, their only target is to not lose and not think about winning at all.
The match between these two English giants was a really enjoyable one with a lot of goals, actions, and pressure on both teams. Only 9 minutes into the match, Savinho assisted Erling Haaland to give the Blues the lead. But after only 13 minutes, Arsenal’s new defender, Riccardo Calafiori scored an outstanding goal to level the game.
This was the first start for the Italian gem and he gave a great impression to Mikel Arteta with the goals and his tackles. Later in the 46 minute, Gabriel received a cross from Bukayo Saka to convert the corner into the goal. But things got heated after the goal and seconds before the half-time break, Leandro Trossard received a second yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct.
This made the game even tougher for the Gunners, having only 12% possession in the second half. When all the fans thought the game was over and Arsenal got three points in Etihad, John Stones put the ball into the net with no time left in the match.
Both teams ended up receiving a point in the end but none of the managers were happy for it. After the match, Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva had some words to say to the media about Arsenal’s mentality and the way they played.
He compared the Gunners with the other English giants Liverpool, saying that the Reds always faced them face to face and tried to win every game they played against. Even when Liverpool were not in the best form, Bernardo thinks that the rivalry between these two teams is unmatched compared to other clubs in Premier League.
Regarding the draw, Silva and his team were not very happy because he thought they deserved more, having the ball most and dominating the game most of the time. But Manchester City’s desire to win the match and the last-minute goal were important for the Portuguese midfielder that he thinks that this a huge point for the race in the Premier League.
Now the next challenge for the Citizens will be against Watford in the EFL Cup, and on the other hand, Arsenal will face Bolton in the same competition.
