Caoimhin Kelleher has shown his interest in leaving Liverpool and joining another club with the best offer given to him. The reason why Kelleher wants to leave is because he wants to have the chance to be the number one keeper and not stay on the bench but this is a dream nearly impossible for Caoimhin as long as Alisson is at the club.
On the other hand, the Reds have signed the best Euros goalkeeper from Valencia, Giorgi Mamardashvili with his contract expiring in 2027. He will join the team the next season and as it seems, Kelleher’s dream to become Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper comes to an end.
During this International break, the Irish goalkeeper has admitted that he wants to find a new club where he could be the number one and he is fully committed to making that happen.
After Caoimhin expressed his desire, Arne Slot had his response in the latest press conference before the match against Nottingham Forest. When asked about Kelleher’s ambitions, the Dutch manager said that he would be worried if any of the players in his team would feel comfortable on the bench and would not want to play first-team football.
With this answer, Slot shows that he cares about his players and if Kelleher’s career would take a step ahead with this change, then it should happen as soon as possible.
He continues saying that it would be a bigger worry for him because all the players normally want to be starters, but it’s not easy for everyone due to the competition between players that shows the high-level week in and out.
Kelleher was the number one for most of half the last season when Alisson had a serious injury and missed more than 20 Premier League matches. Irishman stepped up in every game showing his true potential and proving why he should be a number one keeper in every team he plays.
The 25-year-old had interest from Premier League teams like Nottingham Forest, offering Liverpool 35 million pounds but this was not good enough for the Reds to let Kelleher leave.
The season has started and Caomhin is still waiting for his time to shine, but if any better offer comes in the next transfer window for Liverpool, the adventure of the Irish keeper with the Reds club could be coming to an end. His future is yet to be revealed as the season has just started.
