Heading into the Champions League match against Bologna, Liverpool’s last summer signing has spoken to the press about the new life under the new manager Arne Slot and the changes that happened on the team since his arrival.
Alexis Mac Allister joined the Reds in June 2023 and has been the key midfielder since playing his first match under Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool bought the Argentinian from Brighton for an amount of 35 million pounds and he has been one of the best arrivals in the club in the last decade.
Under Jurgen Klopp, he played the majority of the games as a defensive midfielder, bringing a lot of qualities to the midfield, but his position has now changed more under Arne Slot. With the excellent performance of Ryan Gravenberch, who joined the club in the same summer as Alexis, now the Argentinian has more freedom to play in the offense compared to the last season.
Speaking to the press, Mac Allister said the midfield for now feels comfortable alongside Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboslzai. The rotation that the trio is making in each game is giving Liverpool a big advantage in the domination of the pitch against their opponents.
Macca feels that there is not much difference between Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot as their principles are the same but the only thing that changed is that the team is more complete now while trying to improve more and more each game.
He then continued talking about Luis Diaz’s amazing form and he feels very happy about his great performances and the goals he scored. Mac Allister said that one of the most important things for a striker is the number and Lucho has started to score and assist in many games since the start of the season and this is a big boost for the Columbian forward in his development as a top class winger.
When asked about winning the Champions League, the Argentinian said that it’s a dream for him to reach that goal with Liverpool even though he won the World Cup in 2022. He said that when you play for a top club like Liverpool, you have to fight for every trophy that you compete in so the team will fight to win everything they can.
Next for Liverpool is the UEFA Champions League match against Bologna which will be played in Anfield at 20:00 UK Time on Wednesday. After that, the Reds will play against Crystal Palace which will be a huge decider if Liverpool will continue to stay at the top of the league, having Manchester City and Arsenal behind them with only one point less.
