Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool’s right-back, sustained an ankle injury during the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on March 11, 2025. He was substituted in the 73rd minute after attempting to intercept a pass and landing awkwardly, leading to visible discomfort.

Following the match, Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, expressed concerns about Alexander-Arnold’s availability for the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United on March 16. Slot stated, “With Trent, he had to come off. That’s never a good sign.” He further added that, based on initial assessments, he would be surprised if Alexander-Arnold is available for the final.

The potential absence of Alexander-Arnold poses a challenge for Liverpool, especially considering other defensive concerns, including injuries to Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez. Jarell Quansah is likely to step in at right-back if Alexander-Arnold is unavailable.

It is uncertain whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will be fit to play in the Carabao Cup (formerly known as the Carling Cup) final against Newcastle United on March 16, 2025. He picked up an ankle injury during Liverpool’s Champions League match against PSG on March 11, 2025, and was substituted in the second half. Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed concerns after the game, suggesting it would be surprising if Alexander-Arnold could recover in time for the final.

The club will likely provide more updates as the match approaches, but based on the current assessment, his availability is in doubt.
