Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been confirmed to be back from his hamstring injury this weekend for the Premier League match against Wolves. Arne Slot has informed the media and we expect to see the Brazilian in the goal on Saturday.
Alisson has been suffering from a tight hamstring which left him out since the UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan in San Siro. The Reds achieved victory with a result of 3-1 but the win didn’t feel amazing due to the injury Alisson received.
He played the whole full 90 minutes of the match and a few hours after the full-time, the medical team gave the news about the injury. Arne Slot then explained how it happened and he said that the injury started a bit before the Milan match but the keeper didn’t have any issues until the match ended.
Due to the injury, Alisson missed two matches, the Premier League one against Bournemouth in Anfield which the Reds won 3-0, and the other match against West Ham in the Carabao Cup round of 16, where the Reds won 5-1. His replacement was the Irishman Caoimhin Kelleher, who had an amazing performance once again explaining his desires to search for a new club so he can become a number one choice goalkeeper.
For the upcoming fixtures, it’s not yet decided which keeper will start in goal but it’s expected that Arne Slot’s decision will feature Alisson Becker in goal again and Caoimhin Kelleher will start the match from the bench.
Speaking to the media, Arne Slot said that the Brazilian has started to train with the team and he thinks that he will be available for Saturday but first it’s more important to see how the training goes. He then continues to speak about the big performances of Caoimhin Kelleher saying that he did very well in the goal in his last matches.
Liverpool’s next challenge is an important one, being behind only one point from their rival Manchester City. The Blues will have to face Newcastle United on Saturday in St. James Park and it won’t be an easy game for Pep Guaridola’s boys, getting pressure from Liverpool who are having a great form since the pre-season under their new manager Arne Slot.
In your opinion, would it be better for Caoimhin Kelleher to leave the club and search for a new one where he could play as a starter, or should he stay to try and be the first-choice goalkeeper even with the arrival of Liverpool’s new summer signing from Valencia, Giorgi Mamardashvili?
