Liverpool FC has published their Starting XI for the Premier League match against Bournemouth in Anfield. After the last 3-1 win in Champions League against AC Milan in San Siro, the Reds are back in action to continue their great form in the league.
Arne Slot has decided to go with a change in two positions compared to the previous games. In the goal today start Caoimhin Kelleher, who will replace the number one keeper Alisson Becker. The Brazilian has been reported injured after the AC Milan match, but the Dutch manager said that the injury has started a bit before the action in San Siro.
Kelleher who played most of the matches last season due to the injury of Alisson, has the chance today to show that his performances haven’t dropped ever since. The new summer signing of Liverpool, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to be the new main keeper in the team if Alisson decides to not continue with the Reds and this has made Kelleher search for other clubs so he can have the playtime he deserves.
Another major change in today’s lineup will be the replacement of Diogo Jota with Darwin Nunez who hasn’t started a single game in the new 24/25 season. This gives the Uruguayan another big opportunity to prove himself in the eyes of the Dutch manager and this performance will be key in Darwin Nunez’s season with the team.
This is Liverpool’s Starting XI for today: Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
The Reds record in the Premier League until now is three wins and one defeat by Nottingham Forest in Anfield in the last game. Liverpool will try to receive three points from today’s match to keep the tempo up with Manchester City and Arsenal who will face each other on Sunday at Etihad Stadium.
The best scenario for Arne Slot’s squad would be if the derby between Manchester City and Arsenal would end in a draw. This would give Liverpool the opportunity to go only one position away from the top of the table.
After the fixture against the Cherries, the Reds will have to face West Ham in the EFL Cup round of 16 at Anfield.
