Ryan Gravenberch is showing the whole world his true talent and potential in the last Liverpool matches in the Premier League and Champions League.
His performances under the new Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been highly increased and now he has become one of the main players in the Reds team.
In the latest battle against AC Milan in the Champions League, Ryan Gravenberch bossed the midfield and after the match he received the Player of the Match award. On the other hand the league game didn’t go as well as planned for the Dutch manager. Despite the 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest in the league, Ryan was one of the few players who put on a good performance.
The great form of the Dutchman was seen by the former Liverpool midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, who supported Gravenberch and spoke to the press about his work. These two midfielders never had the chance to play alongside each other, but they had some times together in the last season’s training before Thiago left the club and retired from football.
The Spaniard attended the last league game against Nottingham Forest in the stands of Anfield, but unfortunately for him, the Reds couldn’t give him the perfect show that he was prepared to see from the team.
Speaking to the media, Alcantara said that most of the good players first have to adapt to the team to show their true potential and this is what is happening to Gravenberch who wasn’t fitting really well in Jurgen Klopp’s system in his first season to the club.
Thiago said that the number 6 position is a really hard one and Ryan is only getting better, evolving and adapting to it. Having two great midfielders alongside, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, is a big boost for the Dutchman in the eyes of the former teammate. Being surrounded by great players like them makes Gravenberch even a better player, says Alcantara.
It’s really sad to see a maestro like him retire so early due to the major injuries he had during the last years of his career. The former Barcelona and Bayern player would be a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s system, because of the possession and the style Liverpool is playing for the moment.
About the new era of the Reds, Thiago praises the Dutch manager a lot saying that most of the fans expected to underperform with the new manager, but Arne Slot is just making this team better and better every game.
